How can I legally use music, trademarks, or other copyrighted materials in my film?

In the event that you wish to use any copyrighted material in your film, you first must go through the process of getting permission to use said materials. 

To do so you must:

  1. Identify who owns the copyright.
  • Consider if the copyright is public domain,
  1. Identify what specific rights you need .
  2. Contact the rights owner and come to an agreement .
  3. Get the agreement in writing and signed by both parties.

After getting permission in writing, you should be free to use the copyrighted work as outlined by the agreement.
