How does the jury selection process work?

The jury selection (also known as voir dire) is the process in which the jury, exactly 12 jurors for a criminal trial, is chosen. First, random citizens are chosen from public records to be a part of the jury pool. Then the jurors are questioned to see which will be able to remain impartial and make sure they have no ties to the case. The last step is to swear in the final jury (12 jurors) and alternates may be selected.
