When casting actors, multiple factors must be taken into consideration to ensure protections from liabilities. These factors are
- Compensation
Consider the budget for the film, how much can you afford to pay each actor? Also take into consideration how the pay will be allocated, will it be a lump sum, or paid in installments over time? Will the pay be dependent on how successful the film is?
- Working Conditions
When casting talent for a film, it’s important to consider the conditions your actors will be working in. Will they have to travel for the role? How many hours a week are they filming? Are the safety standards up to par?
- Confidentiality
To protect sensitive information, the use of non-disclosure agreements (NDA’s) are key in ensuring confidentiality. They provide protections against people leaking information, financial details, or anything else relating to the film prior to the release date
- Age
When casting a child for any role, you must get written permission from their legal guardian prior to doing so, as children are not allowed to work outside of specific exceptions.
